These Halloween fingers are sure to creep anyone out! I tried playing a joke on Josh and said that I hurt my finger, and he thought these were absolutely disgusting. He can’t even eat them, they’re that gross looking! That’s a win in my books lol!

So, this is just a simple shortbread recipe, I have made it into a small batch, but you could double it to make more. This made 8 fingers but they did thicken while baking, so you could make them thinner and perhaps have about 10 – 12 fingers.

I used St Dalfour Strawberry Jam to stick the blanched almonds on them for fingernails, but you could use a raspberry jam or any type of jam really! But the red jams look the best for this recipe.

Shortbread Halloween Fingers

These deliciously spooky fingers will creep anyone out! Perfect for Halloween treats!
Prep Time 10 minutes
Cook Time 35 minutes
Servings 4 people

Ingredients

  • 100g vegan butter (I used nuttelex)
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla paste
  • 2 Tbsp caster sugar
  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 Tbsp rice flour
  • Strawberry or raspberry jam
  • Blanched almonds

Instructions

  • Pre-heat oven to 160°C
  • In a standing mixer or with a hand mixer mix the butter and vanilla until well incorporated.
  • Then add the caster sugar and mix until a creamy consistency.
  • Then add the flour and rice flour.
  • On a floured surface knead the dough a little till smooth. Break off bits of the dough and form into a finger shape. At one end make a little indentation and put a small bit of jam in there – about 1/4 tsp or less. Press a blanched almond into it to make a finger nail. I also used a knife to make creases in the knuckles.
  • Place on a lined baking tray – I greased the tray with nuttelex also.
  • Bake in the oven for 35 to 40 minutes until cooked. Let cool and then serve with some more strawberry jam for extra effect. Enjoy!
